Sustainability
Creating a responsible brand is at the heart of what we're trying to do at The No Sleep Club. Being able to choose the cutest of baby clothes, but knowing you’re making the more responsible choice is an important part of being a parent. There’s enough ‘mum guilt’ out there already! So you want to know you’re doing what you can to be a conscious shopper. And we want to be a brand your future generations are proud you chose for them.
This starts with the materials: we use GOTS-certified organic cotton, which is then dyed using eco-friendly ink. Not all cottons are made equal and, for us, it had to carry the international benchmark for certification, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). This ensures that every step in the production has been independently certified to follow GOTS' social and environmental requirements. Organic cotton also uses far less water than non-organic cotton (some reports have the figure at over 90% less – but with such a giant global production chain, it’s hard to know that amount for certain). What we do know is that it's the best option there is for now for reducing water usage and energy consumption – and it’s also free from pesticides and chemicals... and we definitely don’t want those near our babies’ skin.
Moving on to our choice of manufacturing, and all design and production is done in the UK, so we know who our clothes are made by. Not only does this mean workers are paid above minimum wage, but we’re minimising our impact on the environment by avoiding unnecessary freighting and shipping.
Finally, we want to make our packaging as eco as we can. We use recycled kraft mailers and tissue paper, which are stamped using water-based, eco-friendly inks. Once the package reaches you, all components are card-based so can be recycled easily, too.
The high quality of our clothing means you can pass it on to younger siblings (if you’re brave enough to have more kids and less sleep, that is!), and friends and family after your bubba has grown out of them. And we’re also working on ways to make The No Sleep Club circular - so watch this space.
Being as responsible as possible is at the core of everything we do, and we’re always looking into things we can do to improve – so you can be confident this isn’t just a cool-clothes club, but a cool-decisions club, too. Cos being kind is cool.
